Broccoli got run over by a car in front of his house on Saturday and spent five days in the hospital in Reno. On Tuesday, he underwent a complicated, but successful surgery to repair multiple fractures in his pelvis. He is now recovering at home. The surgeon expects him to recover about 80% of his mobility, but it will be a long road (about 6-8 weeks). Between the vet here in Truckee, the hospital in Reno, and the surgery, his medical bills exceed $10,000. With the generous help of family, we've been able to pay some of the bills and deposits so far, but there's still a long way to go.
