Broadcaster Vinyl & Live DB3 Album
Donation protected
Hi DBTribe and music enthusiasts everywhere! We're announcing this years GoFundMe Campaign. David Barrett Trio has decided to make the 2021 album Broadcaster available on vinyl. Broadcaster is a really special album because it features some of our most pivotal musical moments - the album includes guitar favourites such as Dark Eyes and Malagueña from our live YouTube broadcasts, a remake of a 1990 Trouble In Mind song originally called Sad Sad Day (Scott formed TIM with me in 1989), and another reimagining of Open Space, which was first written in 1980 and recorded by myself using analog sound on sound technology. Open Space is featured in the closing credits of the excellent new documentary entitled "My Father's Tapes". But going even further back, we revisited the very pretentious and bloated "Battle Of Tribulation", the first Crucial Taunt prog epic written in the late 1970's and performed in Scarborough basements and school gymnasiums - but never recorded, until now!

I play steel guitar throughout the album, as well as electric, acoustic, and classical guitars, Scott added bass, orchestrations, and sound design - Terry oversaw the production and did an awesome mix which was then mastered by Phil Demetro (Phil mastered the first DB3 album for red vinyl). Paul Reid is working on brand new album art and we're thinking it'll have to be 180g orange vinyl!

As a hefty bonus, David Barrett Trio, featuring Paul DeLong (drums) and Scott Matthews (bass), will record a full length live concert where we rock out and extend some crowd favourites. Once again Terry Brown will produce and mix the album which will be available digitally everywhere. Everyone that contributes $100 or more will get an invite to the live recording (venue TBA, but we think we know where we'll do it!). Contributors of $250 or more will be entitled to a private one on one Zoom concert by DB, and those super generous crowdfunders that contribute $500 get their very own YouTube episode dedicated to them! Of course everyone gets the vinyl! A super unique album cover is in the works, I suggested we call it "Double Live Espresso" but Scott says he wants to call it "Double Live Fonzo!" - thanks everyone for being a part of this, we couldn't make these records without you!
