Brixton Barbers Emergency Employee Relief Fund

The day has finally come for us to close the shop. As of March 19th, we were forced by DORA, and the Co. Health Dept. to close our doors for 30 days. While we appreciate the safe practices put in place by the state and government officials, this is going to be an absolute devastating blow to our industry and all of our well being.
With self-quarantining in effect for 7-10 days, it is impossible for my crew or myself to make any money whatsoever to support ourselves. We also learned yesterday that we are absolutely not allowed to start up shop at our home. The penalties start from a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail. With that, we also don't want to put anyone at risk, especially if there is any underlying conditions.
Currently the other options for financial aid are being overrun by others not only in the barber industry, but the service industry as well.
Both SBA.gov relief webpage and the UI state webpage are currently down and we are unable to begin filing.
We were playing with the idea of gift cards, or certificates. We do though want everyone on the crew to be responsible and one thing that can happen is a miscalculation of previously received funds, or worse, keeping a collection of who paid and who didn't since Booksy does not let us track that. We also do not have any physical pieces of cards or certificates to keep track of funds
The support emails and texts to this situation has been inspiring as well as beautiful. I'm so grateful to have a community of guests that care so much about us and our cause.
With that I want to thank you for reading this. If you can SHARE to your Facebook page that would be amazing!
