Brix's Unexpected Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Paige, and I am fundraising for my cousin Nicole because her new puppy, Brix, had a very unexpected medical condition surface in the past few days.

Brix was just rescued by my cousin, Nicole and her boyfriend, Nate, on May 10th to be an excellent addition to their family and a little brother to their other dog, Boone.

On the morning of Wednesday, May 25th, Brix was taken to the emergency veterinary hospital, Avets, because his owner (my cousin) noticed blood in his stool. After hours of testing, X-rays being taken, bloodwork, and countless dollars later, nothing was found. Brix was sent home with fluids and probiotics in hopes that he had an upset stomach and that he would begin to feel better. About an hour after he was sent home, his condition took a turn for the worst, and he began to severely and drastically decline. He started trembling uncontrollably and seemingly was having a hard time breathing. Brix was rushed back to Avets to gather more answers and have more tests and X-Rays taken. Once Brix was back at Avets, he was admitted to stay overnight for monitored fluids and testing. Brix's temperature fluctuated for quite some time, making the vets believe he was going into shock. NO ONE could find the reason why this was happening at the time.

Thursday morning, Brix's parents got a call that Brix was doing better and that he seemed like a completely different dog from the way he came in. It seemed like everything was turning for the better and that Brix would be able to go home good as new! Fortunately, the vets still felt uneasy about Brix's condition and asked for approval to do an ultrasound to ensure nothing was missed. An hour later, Brix's parents were crushed when they found out that their 4-month-old puppy and brand new family member was diagnosed with intussusception and needed emergency surgery. By nothing short of a miracle, Avets was able to find a boarded surgeon to perform the procedure a few hours later.

Although Brix has had his surgery, it is currently unknown if he will ever have the chance at a "normal" puppy life. Luckily, his parents were able to find a way to come up with the money needed to pay for the extensive medical bills that have accrued over the past few days. Even though they were able to come up with the money, it has put a huge expense on their plate that neither of them were prepared for. This is where you all hopefully come in. Literally ANYTHING will help. Nicole has been there for me more times than I can count, and her and Nate both have hearts of gold and would help anyone that needed it. This is my shot in the dark in hoping I can help them, no matter how big or small.

Brix has a LONG road to recovery and will need to be monitored and have tests ran for the rest of his life. Just know, that from the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful that you have even considered donating to this amazing couple, big brother Boone, and their brand new puppy, Brix!
