Britt's Medical Mission Trip
Donación protegida
One of my goals in life is to graduate medical school as a doctor of pediatrics. But as most of you know, medical school is not easy to get accepted into. I need excellent grades, an outstanding MCAT score, many volunteer hours, and to top it all off, I also need extracurricular activities and experiences that set me aside from every other young college student that wants to be a doctor.
Well, an opportunity has arose that will give me some of those volunteer hours and it will give me an experience that will help me to be a competitor for medical school. I have been given the opportunity to attend a medical mission trip as member of the “Hands and Feet Project” with the University of Texas Medical Branch to Lima Peru. Me, and 39 other students will spend our days working in a medical clinic with professionals to examine and treat patients. Some of the different areas of work include pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and an eyeglass station. I will also be able to help and attend prayer and church groups that will be available to patients.
On December 26th, me and 5 friends will drive to Houston to board the plane and January 3rd we will drive back home. Until then, I am working hard to raise funds for my trip. The total cost of this trip is $1,900. Besides airfare and meals, this amount is being used for medications and medical equipment for us to take with us to serve our future Peruvian patients. As you can imagine, paying for a medical mission trip as a full-time biochemistry student and mom is not an easy task. Would you consider supporting me financially and in your prayers? Your donation is an investment and is a necessary launch point to make a difference in the many lives that will be touched.
