Brittle Bones, Unbreakable Spirit
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Lauren. I am a 24 year-old living in Tampa, Florida with osteogenesis imperfecta, Type 1. It's a rare bone disorder that causes brittle bones, chronic pain, and fatigue. I am pursuing leg lengthening surgery, as it would significantly improve my quality of life to have this operation. Growing up, I broke over a hundred bones - mostly my legs. This has caused my left leg to be significantly shorter than my right, which causes daily back pain and limitations on mobility. The surgery is scheduled for July 16th, the overall time for lengthening and healing is six months, and at least 3 months would require living in West Palm Beach to access daily physical therapy. However, the adult reality of working my full-time job is not feasible while undergoing this procedure. I am asking for any amount of assistance to ease the financial burden of rent and living expenses while I am healing. As this is the last year I am considered a dependent on my parents' insurance, this will be my last opportunity to have this surgery.
I appreciate any donation. All donations will support living expenses such as rent, groceries, utilities, transportation, and personal assistance should it be required.
