My name is Brittany, I am a 37-year-old female, and for the past two years I have been on dialysis while praying and fighting for a second chance at life through a kidney transplant. I recently reached my “dry weight,” which means I am finally healthy enough to be considered — but I may need to relocate to another state where the wait time is shorter than here in Alabama. The Kidney Foundation will be helping as much as they can with housing but they can’t pay the whole cost also the costs of moving, temporary lodging, transportation, and staying on my special diet — while still paying for my regular medications and bills — are far beyond my savings. After the transplant, I may need to stay anywhere from two to three months so doctors can do frequent blood work and closely monitor how the new kidney is functioning. This transition is truly overwhelming, and I am humbly asking for support so I can stay strong, be ready when a kidney becomes available, and continue my journey toward healing. Any help, prayers, and shares mean more to me than I can say. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
