Hi my name is Brittany, and this is one of the hardest things i’ve ever had to write. Until recently, I never thought i’d have to use the “C word” and my name in the same sentence. But here we are: cancer has entered our lives, and our world has been changed in an instant. Hearing the words “you have cancer” was like having the ground pulled out from under me, a moment I will never forget, one that instantly changed my life and my family’s world forever.

The road ahead means countless doctor visits, treatments, and expenses we never planned for. Even with insurance, the co-pays, medications, travel costs, and missed work are overwhelming. Beyond the financial stress, doing our best to keep life steady for our family while navigating the hardest fight of our lives.

Through it all, I’m praying I get to keep my big ’ole bun, but more importantly, I’m keeping my faith at the forefront of this fight. I choose to lean on God, the strength of my family, and a mindset of gratitude and hope as I walk this difficult road.

**UPDATE 10/17/25**

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the support & prayers. I am truly very thankful!! My spirits are high & I am ready to feel better!

Just a little update. I’ve been very busy with drs appointments & getting everything I need lined up.

I found an amazing team in Houston at Memorial Hermann. I will be a temporary resident of Houston for 7 weeks while I undergo chemo & radiation. The tumor location & size is too large to operate on. I will have radiation everyday Monday-Friday & chemo 1 time a week during this time.

I’m headed back to Houston this next week for more appointments to prepare for my treatments.

Chris doesn’t have PTO with his current position. So he will stay here & continue to work while I am there receiving my treatments. Madeline will stay here as well. My Mom & Madeline are headed with me this next week for these appointments. I am hoping to be able to fly home on the weekends - depending on how I am feeling.

I am very thankful for my job & being able to miss work during my treatments as I focus on myself & healing.

Please continue to keep me, my family, the nurses & doctors in your prayers as I prepare to go to battle!!
