Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your love and support for my sister, Brittany, and her family.
Brittany was recently diagnosed with Sertoli Leydig Stage 1 Ovarian Cancer, a very rare form of ovarian cancer. Her diagnosis came in the midst of unimaginable heartbreak, after losing two babies this year. During the loss of her second baby, doctors discovered what they thought was an ovarian cyst. That cyst turned out to be an encapsulated group of cancer cells which unfortunately burst during surgical removal, further complicating her treatment plan. We believe her sweet baby boy became an angel who saved his mama’s life by helping uncover this disease in time to begin treatment.
What’s Next
On September 15th, Brittany will undergo a hysterectomy to ensure the removal of any lingering cancer cells. Following surgery, she will face six rounds of chemotherapy, scheduled every three weeks, using Paclitaxel and Carboplatin. While the road ahead will be difficult, we are hopeful this treatment will eliminate any remaining cells.
Her Support System
Brittany is not fighting this battle alone. Her husband, Steve, and their two beautiful daughters, Elliot (10) and Reese (7), will be by her side every step of the way. These strong girls are already showing incredible courage as they prepare to support their mom through the months ahead.
Why We’re Asking for Help
The financial and emotional strain on Brittany and her family is overwhelming. She has been forced to step back from both of her jobs, working as an elementary school para and as a dance teacher, in order to focus on surgery, treatment, and recovery. With medical expenses, loss of income, and the everyday costs of raising a family, they are in need of a community of support now more than ever.
We are asking for help so that Brittany can focus on what matters most- healing, fighting, and finding strength through this journey with her husband and daughters by her side. Any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward medical bills, living expenses, and easing the financial burden during this incredibly tough time.
