Brittany, Lexy and Sam run the Chicago Marathon

Hey there!

We are Brittany Murphy, Lexy Trammel, and Sam Berghoff. After finishing our softball careers at Illinois Wesleyan, we were left searching for our next athletic endeavor. We put our heads together and set our sights on arguably the sport most opposite softball—long-distance running. What better way to get into our newfound sport than starting at the pinnacle of it all! On October 9th, 2022 we will be running all 26.2 miles of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

We all decided to participate in the race by way of fundraising for an organization called Girl Up (https://girlup.org/about). A cause close to all of our hearts, Girl-Up is a youth-centered leadership development initiative working to achieve gender equality worldwide. We have each pledged to raise $1,750 (for a total of $5,250) by September 9, 2022—and we need your help!

Contributions of any size, even $1, help move the needle forward. These funds will be split between us to ensure we reach our individual goals and receive our bibs for race day. We are so proud to be advocates for advancing girls’ skills, rights, and opportunities to be leaders. Thanks for your time and kind donation!
