Many have followed Brittany's story, dating as far back as 2015. She was recently admitted to Memorial Hospital for her endocarditis again. She was scheduled for 12 weeks of IV antibiotics and hopefully heart surgery when her lungs became too sick. She was put on a vent in the ICU November 10th. Regardless of medications and how seriously everything was taken, the staff's hands were tied. Brittany continued to have 2 more bleeds; I personally will never forget the fear in her eyes and grip as the blood came up from her vent on the third bleed. She was sedated on a vent, and they still had to rip her off of me. Thankfully the Dr was able to "fix" it in her room by sending epi through; the OR was booked to remove her right lung. I can write for days about what Brittany has gone through over the last month, but I won't. You can read it on Taylor Baker's Facebook. It came down to having a conference where the Doctors told us there was nothing more they could do, so we brought her home on hospice. We, as a family, have been unable to work; we never left Brittanys side. We will forever be grateful to have understanding jobs that let us spend this vital time with her.
