Brittany Bergman’s Brain Cancer Fundraiser

On January 25th, 2018. Brittany McDowell-Bergman started her day like any other day. Within hours, she was being rushed to the hospital with seizures where she was later diagnosed with a large mass on the frontal lobe of her brain. Less than one week later she underwent brain surgery to remove a Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) tumor. GBM is the most aggressive form of brain cancer.
At only 27 years of age, Brittany and her husband Andrew have faced brain surgery and a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. They are now facing an unknown amount of future procedures, therapies and recovery time. In the months ahead, they will not only deal with a heavy amount of emotional and physical stress but financial stresses as well.
In the last four years Brittany has had several doctor appointment. She has also have had a MRI every 3. Which medical bills have added up. Then
A year ago she had a healthy baby boy which is a miracle.
Back in August we got some news that we’d been dreading, after nearly 4 years of stable MRIs we found out that there was some new tumor growth in the same area as the original tumor. Since having the MRI in August I’ve had a functional MRI which shows where my brain is active during motor activity and makes having another surgery much safer. I also have had another MRI that showed that this new tumor growth has increased in size. So after speaking with my surgeon, we have decided that having another craniotomy would be the best option. My surgery will be the morning of Monday the 15. Even though I know I’m pretty tough, please keep myself and my family in your thoughts and prayers during this time ❤️
