Brittany Baldwin’s Emergency ICU and Care Fund

My name is April. I have started this gofundme for my 32 year old daughter, Brittany. She started feeling bad in the last week of March. She thought it was some sort of bug she picked up somewhere but It got progressively worse each day. She noticed that she had a bump on her buttocks that quickly went bad. She ended up with an abscess. That abscess is what prompted her to go to the ER. When she got there, they found that the abscess that was fairly small on the outside was actually really big deep down on the inside. It had tunneled to other locations. They also quickly found that she was an undiagnosed diabetic and she was in diabetic ketoacidosis and was in big trouble. They’d admitted her to ICU on Thursday, April 3rd in order to get the DKA under control and also to do surgery on the abscess. 7 days and counting and they are still trying to get everything under control. Brittany has been out of work for over a week and will continue to be out for a while after she is released from the hospital. Brittany doesn’t have medical insurance and the hospital bills are piling up day by day. She will need continued care after she is released plus lots of medications. If you are in a position to give toward her current and future medical costs it is greatly appreciated. Update: 1:45pm Wednesday April 9th. The doctor says that Brittany will have another surgery tomorrow due to necrotic tissue on the wound. He said she is looking at at least another 2 week stay.
