Brittany and little Stevie

My name is Melanie, I have worked with Brittany for over 10 years. She is one of the strongest, most hardworking moms that I know. She has always been there to help when I need her and has been by my side these years to raise money for St Judes Children's Hospital. She does so much for so many and never wants anything in return. I prayed about how to help her and a coworker and I decided that this is the best way. Brittany may not like it too much because she likes to be the one to help others, but we all need help sometime and I would like us to help her now, she has a one year old that has had it rough.

Stevie was born with moderate Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy. HIE is from deprived oxygen to the brain during birth. Stevie was deprived for eight minutes and had to be under a cooling blanket for 72 hours after birth and 72 hours after to warm her body back to normal temperature. Stevie spent 15 days in the NICU. The HIE world is so complex and new understanding of babies and kids like Stevie seem to change daily. There is so much more to understand about HIE and we are still learning daily and we are 15 months into our journey. She now has to go to two more days of therapy per week. This is very pricey and exhausting to Brittany. She already works 40 hours per week and I don't want her to have to work more to pay for these appointments.
