Brittani & Prestyn / Car Accident Injuries
Donation protected
On Black Friday 2019, my sister-in-law and nephew, Brittani and Prestyn, were in a serious car accident resulting in injuries that required a long stay in the hospital and unexpected surgeries. They were driving through an intersection with a green light when a car from the opposite direction failed to yield while making a left turn, hitting Brittani and Prestyn head on. Prestyn was taken to Cardinal Glennon and Brittani to SLU Hospital. After tests were performed, the severity of their injuries were discovered. Brittani sustained a bone-deep gash to the knee, a fractured sternum, and an internal abdominal tear. Prestyn has a cervical spine fracture and a severe concussion. Brittani has had surgery on her knee and may need surgery on her sternum if it doesn't heal as expected. Prestyn now has a halo in order to keep his neck stable for the next 3 months while his muscles/tendons heal. He also has double vision which they're hoping to correct with alternating eye patches. He will be missing school for next few months.

To date, their hospital bills are $130,000 and climbing. They do not have health insurance and were denied Medicaid. My brother Josh, Brittani's husband, has missed 1.5 weeks worth of pay while staying in the hospital with his wife and step son. They've had to purchase lots of medical supplies for their recovery. In addition, they're going to have a to buy another car. Needless to say, they need YOUR help to cover these costs! I set the goal at $15,000 because this will help recoup some of the immediate costs of this accident until Josh pursues a lawyer to sue for the damages, including mental and emotional trauma. Prestyn has been having nightmares and anxiety and Brittani has been having panic attacks. They both have long roads to recovery which will require bed rest, physical limitations, lots of follow up appointments/scans/tests with doctors and months of physical therapy. The $15,000 will help them get started with some of these costs in addition to making up for lost pay and the added expenses of medical supplies.
(Pic: Prestyn after having the halo surgically placed. His eyesight was greatly affected as well. He still has double vision.)
Other ways that you can help would be to send gift cards for groceries, gas, meals, babysitting (for their toddler Lilly) and housecleaning. Also please pray for quick healing and for favor in the courtroom when the time comes. This car accident was the other driver's fault by failure to yield. Brittani and Prestyn are suffering the consequences of the other driver's poor decision. Please help us support Josh, Brittani and Prestyn by taking money off of their mind and putting it in their bank account.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND LOVE!
