Hi, my name is Sanmugan (Saanmuu) a passionate filmmaker, storyteller, and proud British Tamil.

Growing up in the heart of London, I rarely saw stories that truly reflected my community, our culture, or the struggles we face navigating identity, family, and the streets we come from. That absence sparked a fire in me to change the narrative.

In September 2023, I directed and premiered my debut short film 'The Jungle' at BFI Cinemas in London. It was a story rooted in South Asian gang culture, inner-city tension, and generational trauma. The reception was overwhelming and it showed me just how hungry audiences are for stories like ours.

Now, I’m raising funds to bring the next set of stories to life which will be raw, cinematic tales exploring identity, violence, family bonds, and the choices that shape us. These films are part of a wider universe I’m building, one that merges character-driven drama with the grit of British street life, echoing the tones of Top Boy and Power, but from a South Asian lens.
