Help Me Break a World Record – and Support Two Great Rugby Charities!

Hi, I’m Simon Turner and I’ve proudly served as a rugby referee for over 25 years with the Edinburgh Referee Society. This year, I’m honoured to be part of the referee squad attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest-ever rugby match — a monumental challenge that will test endurance, teamwork, and passion for the sport we all love.

But this isn’t just about setting records. We’re doing it to raise funds and awareness for two incredible rugby-based charities:
Wooden Spoon, the children’s rugby charity supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, and LooseHeadz, an organisation leading the charge for better mental health in rugby.

To help reach our fundraising goal, I’m also collecting donations through the Rugbytots classes I coach, where I get to introduce the youngest generation to the joy and values of rugby. It’s a full-circle moment — from the pitch to the whistle to the toddlers starting their journey.

Every donation helps cover event costs and contributes directly to these two vital causes. Whether you’re a rugby lover, a grassroots supporter, or simply someone who believes in sport making a difference — your support means the world.

Thank you for backing this challenge, and for helping me give back through the game that’s given me so much.
