British Heart Foundation Fundraiser

Hi All,

I'm fundraising on behalf of someone I count myself so immensely lucky to have met, Lucy, who is currently on track to run the London Marathon in 2024 in support of the British Heart Foundation.

There were several charities with which I know Lucy would have been genuinely ecstatic to fundraise for, but the British Heart Foundation is an entirely different proposition; this is a charity with which she shares an incredibly strong personal connection with, following a non-fatal heart attack her father suffered from when she was still a young girl. The thought of this alone is nothing short of harrowing, not least because I know just how tight-knit a family they are.

No family should have to endure this, yet this is unfortunately still the distressing reality for over 100,000 families every year in the UK alone.

I can only begin to imagine the trauma this caused her and at such a young age, however her desire to run for BHF and be a part of the solution is if nothing else, a testament to her exceptional character.

Lucy is completely unaware I have set up this GoFundMe for her and her family, which I hope will make the gift of these proceeds to her on her birthday (November) all the more poignant.

All proceeds will be added directly to her own fundraising efforts, with any further contributions made between her birthday and the marathon date donated directly to her fundraiser as well. The total balance raised will then be donated in its entirety to the British Heart Foundation.

And finally to you Lucy. You embody so much more than you’ve ever given yourself credit for. I can't think of a more fitting gift as the only thing greater than your humility and grace, is your thoughtfulness for others. You’re a true inspiration, and I’m so incredibly proud of you.
