Hello. My name is Clement Chou, and I am a totally blind athlete living in Canada and part of the British Columbia Goalball program. Thank you for taking the time to check out our campaign and read our story.
INTRODUCTION
Every year, blind and visually impaired athletes from all over Canada gather for the Canadian Goalball National Championships. Goalball is a unique paralympic sport designed from the ground up for those who are visually impaired, please check out the video above for more information.
OUR CHALLENGE
This year, due to lack of funds, the British Columbia Goalball program is only able to fund one team fully. However, there are enough athletes to comprise a second team, some of whom need the experience and playtime to be evaluated and possibly considered for the Canadian National Team, and this team needs to pay its own way. As most of the athletes on the team are on disability assistance and are either unemployed or partially employed, we are unable to pay the total amount of 818.5 per athlete in order to attend the tournament.
WHY DONATE
The Canadian Goalball National Championships are not only a great way for athletes to gain experience in the sport of Goalball, but also an opportunity for community. By donating, you will not only provide athletes with much needed experience allowing us to grow both individually and as a team, but also the opportunity to connect with and learn from other members of the Goalball community. We would appreciate anything you can do to help us reach our goal of $3000. Thank you again for reading our story!
