A British man and his Palestinian wife and their three young children have been stranded in Gaza since the war began. He has tried desperately to get intervention by the UK government but to no avail. They have been living in tents with a lack of water, food, medicine and sanitation.
His wife’s family, including her mother, her brother and several of his children, had been killed by Israeli bombing, and their home was subsequently destroyed by an Israeli missile.
This morning he informed us that he and one his daughter were struck by shrapnel following an Israeli airstrike in Rafah. The situation is dire. The UN has described it as "apocalyptic".
The names of people crossing from Gaza to Egypt have to be approved by both Israeli and Egyptian authorities. His children aged six, four, and one, had been added to a list of those allowed to leave, but that he and his wife had still not been granted permission.
The British government's role in this has been atrocious to say the least.
Therefore, we are trying to raise funds to get the whole family to cross over safely into Egypt. Meanwhile, his grandmother will be travelling from the UK in an attempt to at least to save the children.
You can read a detailed account of the story here.
