Bristol’s Chiari Journey

On behalf of the Nicholson family I am attempting to soften the financial strain that will come with Bristols’ upcoming Brain Decompression Surgery on January 3, 2023.

As many know Bristol has suffered with debilitating migraines since 2020 and was diagnosed in early 2021 with Chiari Malformation. Chiari Malformation is a condition in which the cerebellar tonsils descend in to the spinal canal. After many failed attempts at controlling the headaches and a lot of missed school the neurologist recently decided it was time to move forward with the surgery. Bristol will spend 7-10 days in the hospital 3-4 in the ICU. This means Brandon and Nikki will miss more work to be at the hospital along with already missing an extensive amount of work to get to this point. Bristol will also be out of school for an additional 3-4 weeks after the hospital stay for recovery. The family will be facing a lot of expenses with the hospital stay (food, gas, etc.) not to include the flood of medical bills that will soon follow.

We are hopeful this surgery will help alleviate the headaches and Bristol can go back to being a happy headache free kid!
