Bri’s Fight, Our Fight: Help Her Beat Breast Cancer

I’m writing this today for my amazing friend Brianna (Bri), her husband John (JP), and their sweet baby girl Grace. At just 33, Bri is facing something no new mom should ever have to face: a breast cancer diagnosis.

Bri has been diagnosed with stage 2A invasive ductal carcinoma. While she's still learning the rhythms of motherhood with her 9-month-old baby, she's now also preparing for the fight of her life. Her treatment plan includes: six months of chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, surgery to remove the tumor and affected breast, reconstructive surgery, and at least five years of hormone therapy after chemo.

Bri works as a speech therapist in a nursing home, where her risk of infection and illness is too high for her to continue working safely. She’s anticipating having to be out of work for a long stretch of time while she undergoes chemo, surgery and recovery, which adds to the financial burden.

Through it all, Bri is trying to stay strong for John and their baby. If you know her, you know her heart—how deeply she loves her family, friends, and patients. And right now, she needs all of us to help hold her up and stand by her side.

I have created this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden so they can focus on what matters most: her healing and their time together as a family. Donations to this fund will help cover the many costs that come with this fight: medical expenses not covered by insurance, genetic testing, imaging, surgeries, chemotherapy, prescriptions, and the long road of reconstruction and hormone therapy ahead. It will also help with basic living expenses, baby essentials, and child care, so they can focus on what matters most: her healing and time together as a family.
