My name is Joshua Travitzky, I am Rebeccas older brother. I am starting this page to help my parents with the financial hardships that they have been faced with the last few months. My sister Rebecca 28, mother of her beautiful 5 year old daughter, was hospitalized over Thanksgiving weekend for an infection in her heart. While in the hospital, she underwent an extremely risky transplant of her tricsupid valve in her heart. The surgery was not without complications, and after the transplant, she had a pace maker put in to keep her heart pumping. After the surgery she remained hospitalized for 2 months until released in January.
Unfortunately, there were major complications, and on February 8th, Rebecca had a major stroke and was taken back to the hospital. It has now been 6 weeks and Rebecca's situation has substantially gotten worse. The stroke has left her paralized on her left side, both of her legs have gangreen and need to be amputated and her heart valve transplant has failed completley, despite all our prayers and doctors' hard work. We recieved news today that there is nothing further the doctors can do for her and they are going to discharge her so she can spend the rest of her time at home with her family.
My parents, John and Shelly Travitzky, have been caring for there granddaughter Elliot, while both working 2 full time jobs. Rebecca is now hospitalized in Sacramento, CA. My parents live in Yucca Valley, CA 500 miles away, and the finacial hardship they have been dealt is significant. Missing work, all of the traveling between hospitals and home, rental cars and hotels, and everything in between. They have been resorting to, at times, sleeping in their car and staying in hospital beds to avoid hotel costs and be by her side as much as possible. My parents are my heroes and the strength they have shown during this time is unbelievable and just shows how incredibly strong they are. They are the most selfless, caring and thoughtful people I have ever known and have always helped everyone they could without EVER asking for anything in return. They are now at the point where they have exhausted every possible financial resource they have available.
My sister's last wish is to just be home with her parents, two brothers and her daughter. She is lying in a hospital bed 500 miles away from her family, lonely and scared and just wants comfort, support and love. Since there is nothing left the doctors can do, they will be releasing her to come home and be with her family. This is not only risky but extremely expensive due to the nature of the situation. Below are some of the expenses that I am asking for assistance with, and I know it's a stretch but all I can do is put it into the universe and ask.
* Air Transport was estimated at $65000
* At Home Nurse Care estimated $200/day
* Memorial Costs estimated $10000

I am here to ask from help from anyone and everyone that can help, in whatever way they can, to help take away some of the financial stress.
