Hi everyone,
Pancho is my Bengal boy, he is my best friend and one of the best things that happened to me. I am a college student at University of California, Irvine and am currently studying abroad in Australia for the semester. My family was temporarily watching over Pancho when he went missing on May 22nd at 8pm - one of the doors in the house was not closed completely and Pancho got out.
We live in a gated community in The Crosby and unfortunately, the neighborhood security has been making a tough situation even harder. We are not allowed to knock on neighbors doors or pass out anymore flyers. They've stopped us multiple times on our searches and are not letting us park to go searching in the canyon where Pancho was sighted on May 27th. The high security is making it almost impossible to spread awareness in the community.
The situation is causing a lot of strain on my family in an already high-stress environment. They do not have much time to look for Pancho as they are very stressed and occupied with personal matters. While abroad, I'm heart broken and trying to do everything I can to bring my baby home. This is why I hired trained search dogs for $1200 and paid to have my two good friends come to San Diego to help. The search dogs came to search the area on May 28th and were leading Landa, the search handler, towards the same area where Pancho was spotted - about a half mile from home.
I've spoken to Landa about the situation of my family not having enough time to search for him and as many of you know, consistency is key to finding a lost cat. She wants to help and offered a new deal for me: she suggested to team up with another search handler - they have agreed to bring in extra search dogs to search over the course of two days, a minimum of 12 hours total. They will also handle traps, wildlife cameras and bring in extra equipment. Since we know Pancho is hiding in the canyon, they plan to bring an area search dog that can be released off leash to target brush better than the Bloodhounds. They're anticipating this dog can flush Pancho out of brush, yet is trained to not chase him.
This heavy duty search is $3600. I have already paid almost $2000 towards finding Pancho. I just wish I were in home to find Pancho and bring him home safely. It's truly heart breaking and I'm trying to do everything I can with what the situation is. For those who know me, they know Pancho is my everything.
I have received an enormous amount of love and support that is helping me through this nightmare. Of course I would love to do the extra search and I really appreciate any amount of donation - truly anything helps. I can't thank you enough for the support you have given me. As many of you know, Bengals are very smart and difficult to trap - any extra money donated after the $3600 search will be used towards purchasing more equipment (wildlife cameras and humane traps).
A lot of people have also expressed their concern of someone stealing Pancho and highly highly recommend I offer a reward, so extra donations will also be used towards a $500 reward for the safe return of Pancho. Any money after that, will be donated to our local animal shelter in San Diego. Thank you everyone!
Love,
Jeanie
