Bringing Yidden Closer to Hashem
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Zevi Samet. I am on the YU MACS basketball team. Baruch Hashem I have a big opportunity to bring other players on the team, as well as my fellow peers, closer to Hashem. I am fundraising for an amazing project which will enable the guys on the basketball team + some of my peers that need chizzuk to be inspired, and help me help them get closer to Hashem!
1) I want to start a team Shacharis after practice every day (this has never been done daily before) with a small breakfast and a D’var Torah. It will encourage the guys to come. Most of the guys don’t regularly daven, but whenever we have done Shacharis and breakfast in the past, we’ve gotten very high team participation.
2) I want to have some team Shabbosim in Washington Heights throughout the season, especially when we have a game that Motzei Shabbos. A lot of the guys won’t have a Shabbos at all unless we create a team environment. We will purchase everything we need to make this happen—a hot plate, food, drinks, board games etc.
3) A lot of the guys don’t have things which are considered basic Jewish needs, such as Tefillin, Tzitzis, Yalmulkes, Siddurim, Lulav and Esrog, a Menorah etc, and aren’t at a sufficient religious level to spend their own money to buy these things, but they will use them if provided to them.
4) I learn with a bunch of the guys, and it would be helpful if they had their own sefer. This way, they can underline/highlight/take notes in their own Sefer to remember what we learned, and they won’t have to look in with me while we learn together.
5) I want to do team chills with food along with frum guys who aren’t on the team. A lot of the guys who aren’t so religious don’t interact much with the religious guys in YU. I would like to change this.
6) I’d like to bring the team on local trips, such as to an Ohel, or Rebbeim to get chizzuk and be inspired. Whenever we have at a team event, there will be someone who will share a D’var Torah or words of wisdom.
Please donate whatever you can. It will be much appreciated! And B’ezras Hashem you will be helping others come closer to Hashem.
A special educational project of TakeTen4Torah.
