Hi! I’m Izzy (Isabelle Atkinson), a multidisciplinary creative stepping into my work as an artist and creative director in a more intentional and public way for the first time.

For as long as I can remember, storytelling and using my voice have been at the center of how I process, create, and connect. I’ve always expressed myself through creativity in different forms, but this is the first time I’m bringing everything together into a fully realized artistic project that brings together my storytelling, visual work, and creative voice for the first time in this way.

This project, The Cost of Silence, has come to life following a deeply transformative and painful period in my life that shifted how I relate to my inner voice and the importance of expression. Out of that process came a clarity around the importance of turning what is often unspoken into something visible, shared, and human.

The Cost of Silence is a multimedia art installation and short film that brings visibility to women’s emotional and mental health experiences, exploring what is often unseen, unspoken, and unacknowledged, and the journey from silence into expression, awareness, and reclamation.

At its core, this work is about the inner emotional world we don’t always have space to express; grief, longing, rage, resilience, and becoming, told in a way that invites connection and reflection.

This installation will be held at Shift Gallery in Ocean Beach, San Diego, CA on May 15th.

This is a self-funded project. I’ve been building it from the ground up independently - writing, conceptualizing, directing, and producing the visual work, and I’m currently covering all production costs myself, including photography, film, space, materials, and post-production.

I’m sharing this here because I believe in the importance of this work and the stories it holds.
