Hi everyone!
As many of you may know, I’ve begun my Doctor of Occupational Therapy journey at MUSC and am about to start my second semester. This May, I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Belize as part of my required Level I Fieldwork.
Our program partners with Therapy Volunteers International (TVI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing life-changing pediatric therapy services to underserved communities around the world. TVI offers high-quality, cost-free occupational and speech-language therapy while collaborating with local partners to promote sustainable, long-term impact.
During this trip, our student team will work with children in clinics and schools, providing occupational therapy through play- and activity-based interventions that support daily living skills, participation, and independence. This hands-on experience will allow me to apply my academic training while learning from and serving communities through a lens of cultural humility and global health.
I have always hoped to take part in a service experience like this, and it will be incredibly meaningful both personally and professionally. This opportunity will allow me to deepen my understanding of pediatric occupational therapy while growing as a student and future clinician. However, participating in this fieldwork rotation comes with significant costs, including travel, housing, program fees, and clinical supplies.
I am raising funds to help offset these expenses so I can fully participate in this educational and service-driven experience. Any contribution—no matter the size—will directly support my clinical education and help expand access to pediatric therapy services for children in Belize.
Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and belief in my journey. I am truly grateful for any help in making this opportunity possible and look forward to sharing more along the way!
