I wrote the script for STALL when I was grappling with many changes happening at once: the pandemic, the end of a significant relationship, and adjusting after graduating from a demanding master's program. The first draft was just a raw outpouring of these emotions. Over the next three years, I rewrote it a dozen times and landed on three stories. STALL is a three-part anthology where the private lives of lovers, strangers, and past selves explode inside a single bathroom. In this film, I explore what it means to be exposed, what it means to love and lose, and what loneliness really means.

I am choosing to make this film in South Africa, where I am from. I realized that to really get to the core of the film, I must take it home. Much like healing, one finds themselves inside of a journey where they return home to find themselves irreversibly changed. This fundraiser will help make this bold film a reality. I have a four-week window to raise money, hire cast and crew, secure a location, and shoot it. It's ambitious. It's bold. But this story has been begging me to tell it, and so tell it I must—finally.
