Help Soulspire Rise Again

For the past nine years, Soulspire has been a place people have turned to for healing, recovery, connection, and hope. Now, after a devastating accident at the Nevada City Healing Playground, Soulspire needs our help.

I am creating this fundraiser for my friend Jesse J. Jacoby and the Soulspire community after an equipment malfunction caused a fire inside the Nevada City facility.

An ozone steam sauna malfunctioned and caught fire. Thankfully, the building's sprinkler system activated and prevented the fire from becoming something potentially far worse, but in doing so, thousands of gallons of water poured throughout the facility.

The aftermath has been devastating.
Specialized wellness equipment, furnishings, supplies, electronics, and other property were damaged by the fire and water. The losses are currently estimated at more than $100,000, and Soulspire has been forced to navigate cleanup, restoration, equipment replacement, and the enormous challenge of getting the Healing Playground operating again.

To make matters even more difficult, Jesse recently learned that when Soulspire relocated from Truckee to Nevada City, the insurance coverage on the business was not fully replicated. Although there is coverage associated with damage to the building, much of Soulspire's specialized equipment may not be covered under the current policy.

Jesse is pursuing every available insurance and recovery avenue, but those processes can take time. Soulspire needs support now.

Nine Years of Giving Back

There is another part of this story that people should know. For nearly a decade, Jesse and Soulspire have quietly helped countless individuals experiencing health challenges, including many people who could not afford the services they were seeking.

Soulspire has donated sessions, provided charitable services, opened its doors to people going through difficult circumstances, and invested time, energy, equipment, and resources into helping others.

I have watched Jesse build Soulspire around the belief that healing should extend beyond a financial transaction. When someone genuinely needed help, Soulspire has repeatedly found ways to help.

Many of those acts were never advertised. There was no fundraiser attached to them, or expectation that those people would someday return the favor. Helping people was simply part of what Soulspire was created to do.

For nine years, Soulspire has been there for people when they needed help. Today, Soulspire needs us.

More Than a Wellness Center

Soulspire is not simply a collection of machines. Jesse calls Soulspire "The Healing Playground" because the vision has always been much larger than a traditional wellness center.

The space was created to bring people together around healing, human connection, music, movement, recovery, and personal transformation. Sauna and cold immersion, hyperbaric oxygen, frequency-based technologies, recovery therapies, bodywork, community gatherings, music, and other wellness experiences have all existed under one roof.

People come through the doors for many different reasons, but Soulspire has always been built around one central idea: creating a place where people can reconnect with themselves and with one another.

Losing so much of that space overnight has been heartbreaking, but this does not have to be the end of the story.

What We Are Raising Money For

We are asking the community to help Soulspire rebuild and reopen. Donations will help with replacing equipment damaged by the fire and water, restoring the facility, remediation and cleanup, replacing furnishings and supplies, reopening expenses, and supporting the business while operations are disrupted.

Jesse will continue pursuing insurance and any other appropriate recovery avenues while the rebuilding process moves forward. Updates will also be shared as the situation develops so supporters can follow Soulspire's progress toward reopening.

Our goal is not simply to replace what was lost. Our goal is to bring Soulspire back.

If Jesse or Soulspire has ever helped you, donated a service to you, supported someone you love, welcomed you into the community, given you a place to heal, or simply created something you believe deserves to exist in Nevada City, this is an opportunity to help that work continue.

Please donate whatever feels possible. If you cannot contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser can be equally meaningful. Send the campaign to friends. Post the link. Share Soulspire's story. Tell someone about the work this community has done over the past nine years.

A hundred people helping matters. A thousand people helping can rebuild a healing center. For almost a decade, Soulspire has operated from the belief that when someone needs help, community matters.

Now we have an opportunity to return some of the love, generosity, and support Soulspire has given to others. Let's help Soulspire rise again.
