With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved brother, Shomari Jibri Bratchett (July 8, 1993 – January 16, 2026). Shomari passed away suddenly in Los Angeles, California, far from home, and our family is now facing the painful task of bringing him back to Milwaukee to be laid to rest.
Shomari was truly a sweetheart—kind, witty, and selfless, with a heart bigger than his circumstances. He carried big dreams and a hopeful spirit that many never saw waver, even as he quietly battled bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and depression. Despite surviving childhood abuse and trauma, Shomari remained gentle, optimistic, and deeply loving.
In July 2025, Shomari left home searching for healing and a fresh start. His life ended far too soon. He was preceded in death by his mother in December 2022 and is survived by three siblings who loved him beyond words.
We are humbly asking for support to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, as well as the cost of bringing Shomari home so we can honor his life with the dignity and peace he deserves. Any contribution, no matter the amount, or even sharing this fundraiser, means everything to our family during this time.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support as we grieve and remember Shomari’s beautiful soul.
With love and gratitude,
