Bringing Power to my Grandparents
Donation protected
In honor of my Grandpa's 70th birthday today (November 14th) I wanted to start this "gofundme" to help my grandparents afford a BC Hydro power pole and transformer on their property.
What they currently have is a wood stove for heat and cooking. Which I am thankful keeps them toasty warm so far this winter.
If you know me, you know old people, men, in particular, are my soft spot. It's something about being expected by society to provide for your family and if you can't or don't you are somehow less of a man. I can not imagine the stress that could bring, but it is all worth it for your family.
I think it's time my grandpa gets a break (still working at 70) and help raise him money to buy a power pole and transformer for their property outside of Prince George.
It's a wonderful time a year when our hearts are full, I believe in the generosity of strangers to help us. The sooner they could get electricity the better but I hope to reach this goal by their 51st anniversary on January 20th, 2019. I know they will be okay no matter any outside struggles because they have each other but I have to try.
I am a lot closer to my grandparents than most people get the chance to be, and I am forever grateful I lived with them during my high school years. Even after house fires earlier in their marriage, where they lost everything they never asked for charity. Even when they don't have a lot my grandma will donate to those in need.
Retirement age is supposed to be 65 but that hasn't stopped my grandpa, since his retirement age he has worked doing various jobs, one of which was working long hours hauling fuel to the helicopters that were fighting our forest fires.
A $5 here and there adds up and helps. I thank everyone for taking the time to read this. I truly appreciate it.
