Bringing Our Story to the Screen - Support our Documentary

Hi, we’re Santiago Posada Ruiz and Juan Ospina, two filmmakers from Colombia living now in Montreal. We’re raising funds to produce a short documentary that tells a powerful, personal story — one rooted in the immigrant experience, identity, and remembrance.

This is more than a film for us. It’s a way to give voice to stories often left untold — stories like ours.

️ The Project

Our documentary (Working title: à Nous) is a portrait of María, Germán and Santiago, a Colombian immigrant family living in Montreal over the past decade. The film delves into the memories of the Posada Ruiz family as inhabitants of an ever-changing metropolis, retracing their journey to Montreal and their relationship with the city. Between nostalgic recollections, the protagonists re-draw the map of Montreal through a shared love and deep understanding of the city’s synergy and the challenges of navigating broken identities within its diasporic communities. It's an intimate film that reflects the challenges and quiet triumphs of those rebuilding their lives far from home.
