My dream is finally coming true! I will be joining a medical mission trip to Guatemala, where I will be helping provide free orthopedic surgeries to people in need. I’ll be traveling with my coworker from the Hospital for Special Surgery, and the trip is being organized by Operation Walk NYC 2026. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity to serve.

I grew up in Japan and spent a few years living in Indonesia during elementary school. As a child, seeing young kids begging on the streets and families living in makeshift shelters was heartbreaking. Those early experiences changed the way I saw the world and planted a deep desire in me to help people who are struggling. That desire guided me toward a career as a nurse so I could use my skills to make a real difference.

Now, I have the opportunity to fulfill that lifelong mission. I will be volunteering in Antigua, Guatemala, working alongside surgeons and physical therapists to provide orthopedic surgeries for individuals who have very limited access to medical care and who suffer from painful, debilitating joint and bone conditions. We will be there for a week, offering care, relief, and hope.

Since this will be my very first mission trip, I am reaching out for support. Donations will go directly toward essential surgical supplies, medications, and equipment, as well as help cover mission expenses.
