My name is Katie Evans, and I’m the writer and leader of a passionate team of midwest based filmmakers working to bring our independent film, "Oliver West," to life. This project was born from my own experience as a queer person, navigating hard times and sometimes forgetting the joys that life can offer. I wanted to create a fictional story that mirrors the beauty and hope that can be found even in the most difficult moments. For me, art is a way to rediscover love for humanity and life, and I believe it’s crucial to amplify voices that are often overlooked—especially those from the LGBTQ community.
Our team, including Peyton Savington, our non-binary head director, and Daniel Cole, our queer production manager, have been working together for three years. We all know firsthand the importance of positive and joyful representation for queer people, and we’re committed to making "Oliver West" a film that uplifts and compensates the talented artists and crew who rarely get the recognition they deserve. Based in Lincoln, Nebraska, we face unique challenges—limited resources compared to the coasts and a community where not everyone sees the importance of art and storytelling. Still, we believe every region deserves to have its stories told and its artists supported.
Every bit of money raised will go directly toward paying our team and securing the locations needed to bring our vision to life. We’re using equipment from previous projects so that your support can have the greatest impact on the people and places that make this film possible. By supporting our fundraiser, you’re helping us create a film that celebrates resilience, joy, and the power of community. We’ll recognize our supporters with special thanks in the film and provide regular updates on the impact "Oliver West" has on queer youth and artists in the Midwest. Thank you for believing in our project and helping us share this story with the world.
