Bringing my play to the Edinburgh festival

Hi, I'm Emily; I'm 18 and doing my A-levels this year. I am trying to get into the creative industry, ideally through acting. This gives a run-down of the project, our goals, cast and information. 

About the play - I wrote this play about 7 months ago, it's called 'Here You Come Again'. I have decided to perform this at my school as well as take it to the Edinburgh Festival this coming August (2023); this will cost a lot of money. The play has a cast of 8; I'll be playing one of the roles and we have cast the play through our school, many of the cast are actors with agents, and all are very excited and professional about the project. The play is about modern-day relationships in London, it explores the social, professional and romantic lives of eight young individuals who cross over in strange ways.

What are we fundraising for? - We have booked a venue that requires large down payments. We have booked accommodation at Queen Margaret University, this (again) is very expensive for 9 people. There are also significant travel, catering, licensing and set/costume expenses.

A note from the director (Bea Hemsley)- Emily and I first spoke about this project on the off chance of working together and putting this on at our college. I instantly loved the script and already wanted to explore directing and the process of collaboration. I’m hoping to get into the industry via acting and hopefully directing and producing my work and this is a great way to begin my journey and career. Emily and I are super excited about this project and the prospect of taking this further with everyone’s help is amazing- so thank you to everyone who is behind us on this :) 

A note from the writer and cast member (Emily Brigstocke) - 

I wrote this play a few months ago, I have loved writing scripts for a long time but never thought one might be professionally performed. The feedback and support I have had from my family, friends, teachers and followers has been overwhelming and amazing. 

Acting is my main passion and goal and has been since I was little, the industry is competitive and tough to get into so this would be the most amazing opportunity for me, Bea and our wonderful cast.

About the festival - The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the biggest annual arts festival in the UK, It’s an amazing arts festival in Edinburgh. It hosts both newcomers and professionals in the industry. I’ve gone nearly every year since I was a child and always loved it. It would be such an amazing opportunity to perform there.
