I came to this country 4 years ago and the only thing important I did was to adopt my babies, became sober and survived to a stalker. I did not money at all. Just surviving and taking care of my animals, my only family.
It's never easy to let go of a dream, especially when it involves things beyond your control. But sometimes you have to.
I've decided to return, not to my home, because the United States has become my home, but to the country where I was born, where my family is: Colombia.
Four years ago, I arrived in the United States with the dream of becoming an independent woman and helping my family. I managed to learn to be independent. I managed, as a neurodiverse person with emotional difficulties, to support myself, pay my own rent, utilities, food, medicine—things I never managed to do in my home country.
I haven't achieved anything material so far, but I managed to give a home to four animals who became my only family. First came Feliz, a kitten from Allentown, who didn't even have teeth when I found her; then came siblings Agatha and Gandalf, abandoned in a box outside shortly after birth; and finally, Rosie arrived, a dog who was found abandoned in an Amish community.
Everything was going relatively well, facing adult life, working in a wonderful place, and although I missed my family a lot, I was happy to finally be achieving something important.
However, in 2024, I was a victim of harassment and violence at the hands of my ex-fiancé. A guy I fell in love with, but who turned out to have a serious drug addiction and obsessive problem. I had to go through a grueling process, which I'm still going through two years later, to protect myself from him.
I've experienced delicate health issues due to all the trauma. I was hospitalized three times last year and I'm still trying to stabilize my health. Because of all this, I've finally decided to return to my family.
But after this time living with my animals, who are like my babies, I feel I need to bring them with me. I don't want to give them up for adoption. I want to fight to keep them and continue our life adventure together. They have been my refuge in my saddest days and also my joy, and that's why I want to give them the same: my loyalty. Know that wherever we are, I will always be their home.
That's why today I appeal to your hearts, to those who wish to support me in this step toward a new stage of life, hopefully free from illness and violence, with the nostalgia and gratitude for everything I've experienced in this beautiful country, and with my pets by my side wherever life takes us.
The process of taking your animals on an international trip is very expensive and time-consuming. It involves medical exams, special carriers, certificates, medications, and a long list of requirements. But if I can raise the money, I know we can make it happen, and I'm willing to take all the necessary steps to ensure its success.
