My name is Mochi. I am a Japanese calligraphy and performance artist, raising funds to bring a new body of work to New York City.
My practice explores Zen through a feminine, embodied lens. While traditional Zen is often expressed through rigid, ascetic forms, my work is softer, intuitive, and rooted in the body. Through calligraphy, movement, and performance, I explore the tension between tradition and rebellion, discipline and nourishment, masculinity and femininity.
This project will support a three-month stay in New York to create and present a large-scale performance and installation that bridges Japanese cultural tradition with contemporary expression.
By supporting this campaign, you are helping bring a living cultural dialogue between Japan and the West into the world.
