Bringing Matthew Home to His Family

My name is Jennifer, and I am creating this fundraiser to help bring my younger brother's ashes home to his wife and three beautiful children, and also to honor him and give him a meaningful funeral/celebration of life.

My brother, Matthew, was 40 years old and tragically took his own life on January 24, 2026. Matthew is survived by his wife and their three children, ages 15, 12, and 8. My brother was a beautiful human being who yearned to be loved and accepted most of his life. He was musically talented, uniquely intelligent, charismatic, and carried a fabulous sense of humor. Sadly, he lost his battle with depression and mental illness, and we are asking for some financial support to help get him home and give him the celebration he deserves.

Matthew's cremation has been complete for a few days, and his ashes now sit at the funeral home, as I was informed today that the family member who offered payment for his cremation has now backed out and will not be covering the expense, which is a little over $1,300. I also received an email today from the church that this family member had set up services at for next week, and that individual has now canceled my little brother's service altogether. The ceremony was set for this coming Monday, February 9th, 2026.

I am looking for a place that is reasonable in cost to celebrate his life and give his wife and children a little bit of closure while they grieve the sudden and tragic loss of their father. I have a video dedication completed for my brother, I planned on speaking at the service, and have been working on photos and things to honor my brother as well.

I want nothing more than to be able to honor my brother in the way he deserves to be honored—as a human being—and as someone who was treasured by those who knew him and were a part of his life.

I pray that we can raise enough money to pay the funeral home, so that his remains may be released and taken home to his family, and to celebrate his life with those who want to be there, because he mattered and will be deeply missed.

Thank you.
