Lights, Camera Chaos is a dramedy web series about a young Black actress from Kansas City,KS trying to make it in LA while dealing with poverty, energy vampires, drugs and doubt. In the age of social media fame and changing industry practices what parts of us do we lose to fit the standards?
Everyone feels like they know what the entertainment industry is like, most of them are right, but thats only for a small percentage of people. For a great majority of us, especially BIPOC entertainers we're working 3 jobs, taking crazy classes, pimping out our plasma and stuck working low budget films most of our career.
Based on some true life events and inspiration from shows like Awkward Black Girl, The Vince Staples Show, Atlanta, Insecure and Swarm.

Characters
KeNeice, 27, stands 6 feet tall with piercing green eyes and a large blonde afro, its not hard for her to standout. This visibility and uniqueness has brought her great opportunities and some troubles too. She's determined to prove to herself and others that she's not just a pretty face, she's got talent. A self proclaimed "grandma" when it comes to technology; she avoids social media as much as she can. Stubborn, opinionated and determined to do things her way; she has to navigate LA while dealing with complex trauma, lack of resources, and a small drinking habit.
Nova, 29, a gorgeous Afro Latina Super Influencer, she has a big personality and an even bigger following online. She's KeNeice's only friend when arriving to LA. Nova has a pure heart, but years of her being chronically online and being paid for her persona are starting to lessen her values. Nova pushes KeNeice to see the world for what it is and not how she wants it to be. The industry is often about "who you know" and Nova is someone you want to know.
Asha, 30, LA native and a breath of fresh air. Asha feels like home for KeNeice. When an industry party gets overwhelming and brings up some past trauma, Asha comes in a turns the night around.
Shayla, 27, beautiful Black actress and socialite. Shayla exudes confidence in everything she does and says. A bit of a hater and definitely a social climber; you'll find a Shayla at every industry event. Shayla lives off sayings like "you're only as good as your last project" and "its about WHO you know". To her youre either competition or another notch on the social ladder, either way she's stepping on you.
Troy, 34, short, corny and creepy. Troy is the type of guy you don't leave your drink around. Has the confidence of a Greek God with the stature and temperament of Napoleon. He's an actor, writer, producer, director or whatever else he can be to get you in bed.
Family Group Chat- Grammy, 70s, youthful spirit and dance moves to match. Mom, 50S, gorgeous former model and professional worrier. Mia, 26, KeNeice’s younger sister and biggest supporter. The family chat is always there to remind KeNeice where she comes from. At times they can ground her and give her love, but most of the time they're giving unsolicited advice and sharing crazy Facebook news.
Things to get excited about in the series future:
Hilarious episodes about cult acting classes, crazy side hustles, and being hometown hero.
Exploring the complexity of "pretty privilege" and Parasocial relationships.
Honest dialogue about anxiety, trauma and some of the dangerous things we do to cope.
What will the money go to?
This film will serve as the proof of concept and potential pilot for the series. LA film/TV is struggling. The money raised will ensure we are able to pay our cast and crew a fair wage while producing a high quality film. Locations have been secured. All other funding will include but not limited to: our camera package, equipment, editing, craft services, insurance and art department.
