My name is Yasmin, and I am putting together this GoFundMe for my tia Mari to bring the remains of her son, Kelvin (my cousin) from El Paso, TX - where he currently lives - back to Atillo Palma in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic - where he was born and where the majority of his family is located.
Kelvin would have been 37 years old this coming September. He sustained injury to his head when he was around 12 years old, and the symptoms continued for the rest of his life. He was declared legally blind a few years back, with his brain and organs deteriorated faster than normal - and eventually he formed a brain tumor.
Earlier this month, he became severely sick and had uncontrollable seizures. He was rushed to the hospital and was declared brain dead on March 17, 2026 while being hooked up to life sustaining support in the hospital.
Shortly after, the family made the heartbreaking decision to let him rest in peace instead of continuing to keep him hooked on machines.
His mother and family would like to have his remains transported to DR, so that he can finally rest in the place that gave birth to him.
Any support would go directly to funeral home costs in the US, international transportation, administrative/consulate costs in the US and DR, then to funeral costs in DR.
Kelvin leaves behind his wife, 4 minor children, and all who ever loved him. He will be forever loved and missed. We are grateful for the time we had him.

Soy Yasmin y estoy organizando este GoFundMe para mi tía Mari. Nuestro objetivo es trasladar los restos de su hijo Kelvin (mi primo) desde El Paso, TX —donde residía— hasta Atillo Palma en Monte Cristi, República Dominicana, que es su lugar de nacimiento y donde se encuentra la mayor parte de su familia.
Kelvin habría cumplido 37 años este próximo septiembre. A los 12 años sufrió una lesión en la cabeza y los síntomas lo acompañaron por el resto de su vida. Hace unos años fue declarado legalmente ciego; su cerebro y sus órganos se deterioraron más rápido de lo normal y, eventualmente, se le formó un tumor cerebral.
A principios de este mes, enfermó de gravedad y sufrió convulsiones incontrolables. Fue trasladado de urgencia al hospital, donde fue declarado con muerte cerebral el 17 de marzo de 2026, mientras permanecía conectado a soporte vital.
Poco después, la familia tomó la desgarradora decisión de dejarlo descansar en paz en lugar de mantenerlo conectado a las máquinas.
Su madre y su familia desean trasladar sus restos a la República Dominicana, para que finalmente pueda descansar en la tierra que lo vio nacer.
Cualquier apoyo se destinará directamente a los gastos de la funeraria en los EE. UU., el transporte internacional, los costos administrativos y consulares tanto en EE. UU. como en la RD, y finalmente a los gastos del funeral en la República Dominicana.
Kelvin deja atrás a su esposa, 4 hijos menores de edad y a todos los que alguna vez lo amaron. Siempre será amado y extrañado. Estamos agradecidos por el tiempo que pudimos compartir con él.
