Hi everyone, my name is Shaniel Brown and I’m originally from Montego Bay, Jamaica- now living in Calgary, Canada. After seeing the heartbreaking impact of Hurricane Melissa on families and communities back home, I felt called to do something to help.

Many people have lost homes, belongings, and access to basic essentials. Jamaica is my home and even though I live abroad now, my heart is still deeply connected to my people. I want to use this campaign to personally purchase and deliver supplies to those most affected.

I’ve always believed in using what I have to uplift others especially those who need a helping hand. This fundraiser will help me purchase essential items here in Canada (where I currently live) and personally deliver them to Jamaica to support families and communities in need.

All funds raised will go directly toward purchasing:

• Non-perishable food items

• Clothing and bedding for displaced families

• Hygiene products (toothpaste, soap, feminine items, diapers, etc.)

• School supplies for children who lost their belongings

• Materials to help with rebuilding (tarps, flashlights, batteries, etc.)

I will buy the items here in Canada and personally travel to Jamaica to deliver them directly to families and local community groups in need. My main focus areas will be Montego Bay (my home city) and surrounding areas/parishes.

Every dollar will be used exactly as stated. I’ll share photos, videos and receipts to keep everyone updated on how your donations are spent and where the supplies go.

This is a mission of love from the diaspora, for the island that raised me. Your support will help families rebuild, recover and find hope again.
