Help Us Start Our Family Through IVF

Hi, we’re Karina and James Baker—animal lovers, devoted partners, and hopeful future parents. We’ve been together for over eight years, and for nearly all of that time, we’ve been trying to grow our family. After years of heartbreaking setbacks, medical appointments, and unexplained roadblocks, we’re finally moving forward with IVF—and we’re reaching out to our community for support.

Infertility isn’t something most people talk about openly, but the truth is, it’s incredibly common—and incredibly hard. Our journey has included multiple failed treatments, hormone therapies, endless testing, and a rollercoaster of hope and grief. Through it all, we’ve held onto our dream of becoming parents.

Recently, we had our first consultation with a fertility specialist in Spokane, WA. After reviewing everything we’ve been through, the doctor confirmed what we’ve long suspected: IVF is our best (and possibly only) option to have a biological child.

While we’re grateful to finally have a clear plan, the financial burden of IVF is enormous. The total cost—when you factor in medications, lab work, procedures, travel, and the unexpected—can easily exceed $30,000. Unfortunately, none of it is covered by our insurance.

We’ve always done our best to show up for the people (and animals) in our lives. Our two lovable dogs, Mabel and Shepard, are our pride and joy. We’ve spent years nurturing, training, and caring for them—Mabel with her complex medical and behavioral needs, and Shepard, our energetic Fast Cat athlete, who ranked #5 nationally in 2024. They are family to us, and they’ve given us a taste of the kind of parents we hope to be: patient, loving, devoted, and determined.

Now, we’re asking for help to turn our dream into reality.
