Erick came to the U.S. in 2012 as a teenager, alone, escaping hardship in Guatemala. Martina and Erick knew each other from primary school, and she arrived seven years later to reunite with him. They now have two children, one who just started middle school and the other who is in second grade.

On August 2, Erick went to work in Baltimore as usual, and was detained by ICE and immediately moved to a detention facility in New Mexico. The separation has been incredibly difficult for the family.
