Bringing dreams from Spain to Antarctica.

Hey friends and family!

I've been given an incredible opportunity to embark on a journey that I’ve always dreamed of visiting Antarctica and I will do it with SEA WOMEN EXPEDITIONS

as part of their Breaking Boundaries at the Bottom of the World from February 14 - March 10, 2026. I will be one of the women scientists on board, volunteering my time and effort to support the different scientific projects and collaborate with scientific outreach, which is a passion of mine. This trip is not just about travel; it’s about inspiring children from Spanish-speaking countries to become scientists, to engage with their environment, and to dare to dream the impossible dreams. I truly believe in role models, as I personally chose my journey after watching documentaries from Carl Sagan and Jane Goodall.

As a mother and a geoscientist (Paleoceanographer and Paleontologist), I have seen with concern how kids are not really experiencing the outdoors in the same way I did when I was a child. Thus, I have been volunteering my time and a small collection of invertebrate fossils to talk about how, through them, we understand biodiversity, ecosystem resilience, climate change, etc. Fossils are not meant to be in museums as beautiful objects; they are here to teach us about how the world functions. This expedition will help me to bring back experiences from Antarctica to keep my volunteer projects going.

I’m reaching out to seek your support in making this happen. The total cost for the trip, including travel, accommodation, and activities, is about $20000. I need help cover these costs, as I do not have an steady income. I’ve created a funding page at GoFundMe where you can contribute if you’d like. Tengo la increíble oportunidad de embarcarme en el viaje que siempre soñé: visitar la Antártida. Lo haré con SEA WOMEN EXPEDITIONS, como parte de su proyecto "Rompiendo Fronteras en el Fin del Mundo", del 14 de febrero al 10 de marzo de 2026. Seré una de las científicas de la junta directiva, ofreciendo mi tiempo y esfuerzo para apoyar los diferentes proyectos científicos y colaborar con la divulgación científica, que es una de mis pasiones. Este viaje no se trata solo de viajar; se trata de inspirar a niños de países hispanohablantes a convertirse en científicos, a interactuar con su entorno y a atreverse a soñar con lo imposible. Creo firmemente en los modelos a seguir, ya que elegí estudiar geología después de ver documentales de Carl Sagan y Jane Goodall. 

Como madre y geocientífica (paleoceanógrafa y paleontóloga), he visto con preocupación cómo los niños no disfrutan de la naturaleza como yo lo hacía de niña. He estado ofreciendo mi tiempo y una pequeña colección de fósiles de invertebrados para hablar sobre cómo, a través de ellos, comprendemos la biodiversidad, la resiliencia de los ecosistemas, el cambio climático, etc. Los fósiles no están destinados a estar en museos como objetos hermosos; están aquí para enseñarnos cómo funciona el mundo. Esta expedición me ayudará a traer experiencias de la Antártida para continuar con mis proyectos de voluntariado. 

 Les escribo para solicitar su apoyo para que esto sea posible. El costo total del viaje, incluyendo viaje, alojamiento y actividades, es de aproximadamente $20,000. Necesito ayuda para cubrir estos costos, ya que no cuento con ingresos fijos. He creado una página de financiación en GoFundMe donde pueden contribuir si lo desean.
