My name is Carlos Otero, and I'm raising funds to bring my short film, Diana, to life. This project is deeply personal—it's dedicated to my mother, who inspired my love for film and storytelling. Diana follows the journey of a mother in the Bronx who fights with unwavering courage to free her daughter from a dangerous syndicate. While the characters are fictional, the themes of resilience, faith, and determination are universal. I hope this film will resonate with anyone who has faced adversity or fought for someone they love.
Currently, I have completed the script and am in the planning stages, scouting locations in Mount Vernon, Fordham Road, and Co-Op City. These real Bronx neighborhoods will give the film an authentic sense of place and community. My goal is to begin filming toward the end of the year, assembling a dedicated team of talented actors and crew. The funds raised will go directly toward hiring professionals, renting video and audio equipment, and covering post-production costs. I am also committed to securing a union contract to ensure fair treatment for everyone involved.
Diana is more than just a film—it's a way to inspire other filmmakers in my community to create compelling female characters and pursue their creative visions. I want viewers to walk away believing that, no matter the obstacles or hardships they face, there is always a way to grow and persevere, drawing strength from faith even in the darkest times. Your support will help bring this story to life and encourage others to follow their filmmaking dreams. Thank you for believing in independent film and the power of community-driven storytelling.
