Hope for Baby Samara: A Fighter from Day One

Everyone, I’d like to introduce you to our daughter, Samara Emelia-Rae Morway. She was born on August 15th, 2025 at 12:38pm, and from the moment she arrived, she’s had to fight battles most of us will never face in a lifetime.

Samara was born with a condition called an omphalocele, where the abdominal wall doesn’t fully form and some organs develop outside of the body. Because of this, her first days of life have been in the NICU. She has already had setbacks—like when her feedings became too much for her tiny body—but she continues to push forward. We know her journey will be long, and her time in the NICU could last months or more.

Earlier this year, Carrie and I moved to Fort Myers, Florida to make sure Samara could be cared for at one of the best children’s hospitals in the country. While we’re grateful every day for the doctors and nurses, the reality of missed work, travel, and daily expenses has been overwhelming. We make the 30-minute trip to the hospital as often as we can, though sometimes only once a day, just to save on gas.

Through it all, one of the greatest blessings has been watching our son, Jaxon, step into his role as a big brother. He beams with pride when he talks about Samara. He has told us he’s ready to help feed her, change her, tuck her into bed, and even snuggle her so she won’t cry. Hearing his words and seeing his love gives me so much hope as a father—hope that when Samara finally comes home, she will be surrounded not only by care, but by the kind of love every child deserves.

We’re also so grateful to my parents, who have opened their home to us during this time. They’ve been helping cover expenses while we focus on the kids, but the truth is it’s placing a heavy financial burden on them, and we want to lift that weight.

Asking for help is not something that comes easy to us. But in this season, we’re humbly reaching out for support—whether it’s through donations here on GoFundMe, or directly through Venmo (@Camron433) for those who prefer that option. Even if you cannot give, simply sharing this story or keeping Samara in your prayers means the world to us.

Donations will help us with:

Travel costs for daily trips to and from the hospital

Day-to-day expenses while Carrie and I are out of work to be with Samara

Care for Jaxon, making sure big brother has what he needs while we focus on Samara ❤️

Easing the burden on my parents, who have been helping us cover expenses during this time

Every bit of support helps us stay focused on what matters most: being there for Samara while she fights in the NICU and working toward the day we can finally bring her home.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for walking alongside us in this journey. Samara is a fighter, and with the love of her family and community, we know brighter days are ahead.

With love and gratitude,
Cameron, Carrie, Jaxon, and Baby Samara
