CARDIAC ARREST - Multi Organ Failure d/t Sepsis

Another fallen healthcare hero passed this pandemic. Though she didnt die of corona virus, being a frontliner, our immune system which is our only defense as nurses is the real frontliner. Ate Yogi, acquired a BACTERIAL PNEUMONIA in the line of duty. She tested negative many times from the corona virus and unfortunately, when she got hospitalized it spiralled downhill FAST! I spoke with her Monday night through text and she texted me shes on BiPap and the next thing i know i am getting calls that she got intubated. When i went to see her in Odessa Regional Medical Hospital, everything was okay - critically sick but satisfactory for a nurse like me. I was hopeful. I repositioned her, put her hair in a bun (that we both loved) and left Odessa and head back to Dallas. Me and my husband barely just got home from a 5-6hrs drive when i was getting calls at 12:03PM from the hospital that Ate Yogi didnt make it. Her labs in the morning are all suggestive of multi -organ failure due to sepsis. I spoke to the doctor and he explained to me that they have to shock her heart twice and she responded, put her on cardiac medications and she went into cardiac arrest and their 3rd attempt there was a flat line. Ate Yogi was fighting up to the last minute but her heart, lungs, kidney gave up already.

With this, i need help to bring her home. This is her family’s wish. This family have willingly gave out their daughter, sister, auntie, and MOM in the frontline to serve and save those she doesnt even know. Let’s help each other bring ate Yogi home as our last sacrificial gesture of love for her that will extend to her family as well. Ate Yogi served since the beginning of this COVID19 pandemic with willingness and passion despite the uncertainties of times even before the vaccine came out. She faced everything with tenacity and courage. She deserves a memorial service, her life to be celebrated. I know that she wants to be home to her family, she left 2 sons Lawrence and Mikey & a huge bunch of loving brothers & sisters, nieces & nephews.
