Bringing Arkin Home ❤️
Donation protected
Help us bring Arkin home and arrange the funeral he deserves.
In July 2020, our world was completely destroyed. Our kind, loving and selfless dad, Arkin, was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma brain cancer at just 54 years old. He is currently facing the end of his life in hospital.
Unfortunately, this cruel disease has no cure and our only option was to try a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy to prolong his life. He was given 12-18 months to live.
In a matter of months, our strong and independent dad deteriorated fast. The chemotherapy took a huge toll on his health and he soon became bed bound.
Throughout his treatment, he remained so positive and happy. All of the doctors, nurses and carers were amazed by his beautiful smile despite all of the pain he was going through.
Every single person who has met Arkin has been astonished by his ability to put others before himself. He is truly an inspiration and a reminder to be a kinder person.
In early January, he contracted COVID-19, but after 3 weeks in ICU, he pulled through. We were amazed by his strength and hopeful for his recovery.
We thought we would have more time with our beloved dad, but on the 25th of February 2021, we rushed Arkin to hospital in the middle of the night.
Our hopes crumbled when we found out that he had a bleed on the brain caused by the tumour. Since then, he has been suffering from multiple seizures, sometimes lasting 3 hours at a time.
He is no longer able to speak and is kept in a sedated state to stop the seizures from causing more damage. Any moment he is conscious, he is smiling and telling us he loves us.
The doctors have told us that there is no hope of recovery at this point. The only option is to keep Arkin as comfortable and pain-free as possible. They cannot give us a timeframe, but the doctors told us to be prepared for the inevitable soon.
So, we have been left with no choice but to start preparing for the end of his life.
When we thought about where he should be buried, we knew he had to be taken to his home country, Turkey, and buried next to his dad. He came to the UK to give his children the best life possible, but his heart has always been in Turkey.
The cost to take him home is too much for our family to raise alone, so we hope to rely on the kindness of others to help fulfil my dads final wishes. Your support will be helping us fly him to Izmir, Turkey and arrange a beautiful farewell.
Any donation, no matter how small means so much to Arkin's family. He will be leaving behind his wife, his daughter and his son, whom he loves so much. As well as so many others who's lives he has touched.
Thank you so much for your support.
