Hello. My name is Rose ( nursing in Urology ) and Bryan Singizi, a ANP - Diagnostic Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Broomfield hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.
We need your support for our abseil down The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth for kidney cancer patients.
Myself and my wonderful colleague Brian, who is a Nurse Practitioner are both involved caring for kidney cancer patients.
On June 13th we are abseiling 100m down The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to raise much needed funds for a fab little local charity doing amazing things for our kidney cancer patients here in Chelmsford, Essex and up and down the country
Kidney cancer has limited awareness and support and patients can often feel a little unseen. Our patients are supported by a local charity called Flutter - Bringing a little brightness to kidney cancer patients .
This small local charity was founded by a kidney cancer patient who wanted to raise awareness and for patients to not feel so alone following a diagnosis .
Flutter provides and delivers, at no cost to NHS trusts, care bags and comfort cushions to bring a little brightness to kidney cancer patients following diagnosis and during treatment. Flutter is run purely by volunteers .
These wonderful care bags containing helpful items for patients. The care bags are designed to offer comfort and practical support during hospital stays or treatment. Each handmade bag contains thoughtfully selected quality products including travel-sized toiletries, hand cream, lip balm, peppermint teabags, anti-nausea remedies, tissues, eye masks, ear plugs, comfortable bed socks, crossword book, notebook, and a pen.
The Comfort Cushions are ideal following surgery after removal of the tumour.
They are helpful to assist with breathing exercises in the early days following surgery, and held as a cough cushion to provide support over the surgical area. Following home discharge, they are useful for daily rehabilitation, and can be beneficial if returning to hospital for further treatment.
Each care bag and comfort cushion has been sewn with love and kindness by their amazing volunteer Sewing Bees.
To help patients feel less isolated following a diagnosis, each care bag contains essential information for patients and families. This information provides relevant signposting to professional support for counselling, benefit, employment advice and patient groups.
Due to the complexities often involved with kidney cancer, many patients are routinely transferred to hospitals in London, such as The Royal Marsden, The Royal Free, Kings College, Guys & St Thomas’s and Barts hospitals. Flutter also supports these hospitals including Addenbrookes Cambridge with care bags and comfort cushions.
We have seen first hand with our patients ,the difference this support has, and is also much appreciated by their loved ones .
Your donations will support this wonderful charity and help kidney cancer patients .
Thank you for your support and generosity in helping to bring a little brightness to kidney cancer patients .
Warmest wishes
