Hi everyone,
We’re Ken (38) and Brandon (44), and we’ve been together since 2018. At the beginning, my family did not accept my relationship with Brandon, but my grandmother was our biggest supporter. Her unwavering love gave us the strength to stay together and build a life full of love.
After gaining her support, we celebrated our love with a quiet civil ceremony in 2022 and began taking steps toward parenthood — having lab work done and talking to an agency about gestational surrogacy, including embryo creation, implantation, and all related procedures.
Almost three years ago, while trying to sell our condo to fund the process, Brandon’s sister became homeless. Without hesitation, we opened our home to her three children: Hayley, Kayleb, and Samantha. We went from being a couple with no kids to suddenly parenting two teenagers and one tween overnight, finding a home that could comfortably accommodate all of us. It was challenging, emotional, and exhausting — but it strengthened our love and showed us the kind of parents we already are in heart.
When my grandmother passed away two years ago, my family began accepting my relationship with Brandon, which meant so much to us. Now, almost three years after taking in the children, both of us took on extra jobs to restart our gestational surrogacy fund. Brandon works Monday to Friday at his main job, then goes straight to his second job on Monday and Friday evenings, and picks up shifts almost every Saturday. I work Monday to Friday and per diem every other Saturday. We’re at a point in our lives where we want to start this journey before we get too old to raise children, and we are committed to doing everything possible to make it happen.
Gestational surrogacy is expensive. Here’s a breakdown of average costs:
• Agency fees: $5,000
• Egg donor fees: $2,000–$3,000
• Legal fees: $12,000
• Surrogacy fees: $60,000–$80,000
• Medical fees: $20,000–$24,000
Despite our best efforts, we cannot manage this journey alone. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to holding our baby in our arms. Every share spreads our story and reminds us that love, community, and support can make dreams possible.
Thank you for helping us turn hope into reality.
With love and gratitude,
Ken & Brandon
